Hammer extends loan

Nathan Trott is now going to extend his loan at Danish side Vejle BK

Our young and promising  goalkeeper Nathan Trott is now going to extend his loan at Danish side Vejle BK after a successful first spell at the club.

Trott played a major role in helping his side win the league title and promotion back into the top-flight of Danish football, keeping an impressive 14 clean sheets in 25 appearances.

The Irons have high hopes for the 24-year-old keeper who is seen as the future number one for the Hammers, should his development continue as planned. Loan spells at AFC Wimbledon, AS Nancy Lorraine and now Vejle BK, have only confirmed that.

West Ham’s goalkeeping department is currently log jammed with Lukasz Fabianski and Alphonse Areola both vying for the starting spot and with Joseph Anang, Christian Hegyi and now Mason Terry all awaiting  their chance.

This season will probably be Fabianski’s last with the London Stadium, which will then see Areola promoted to first choice keeper. Should the Pole depart next summer there will be an opening available, coinciding almost perfectly with Trott’s return from his loan spell.

Another productive season in Denmark would surely put the former England Under 21 player into pole position for the potential opening.

Trott made his first team debut in an FA Cup tie against Doncaster Rovers in which West Ham ran out 4-0 winners back in 2021.

With Trott so highly rated at the club and with his progression clearly on track, it seems likely that we could see the academy graduate add more senior appearances to his tally sooner rather than later
