Hammer faces ankle operation

|

the right sided problemfernandes1Edimilson Fernandes is likely to undergo an operation repair his right ankle before he can resume his West Ham career.

Last Friday David Moyes wrote in his London Evening standard column  “We had no midfielders on the bench and Edimilson Fernandes may need surgery on an ankle problem. Cover may be a priority in January.”

Fernandes suffered an injury in September while on International duty with Switzerland U21’s. Rumours initially circulated that he had broken his foot and was rushed to hospital but that was later denied.

After medical scans, the club initially labelled the injury as a badly sprained ankle but he has failed to rehabilitate and fresh medical advice suggests that surgery may be the most sensible course of action.

Fernandes has played four times since his injury in September including the recent 2-1 defeat to Manchester City but it is claimed the same ankle is causing him problems again. Fernandes was signed from Sion for a fee of £5.5million in August 2016.
