Hammers boss plans January double swoop

|

West Ham boss Manuel Pellegrini is pushing for a double swoop as his midfield injury problems continue to grow.

With Carlos Sanchez and Andriy Yarmolenko out for the season and Jack Wilshere’s return and continued fitness an issue, the boss knows he has to strengthen big time in January.

Pedro Obiang is expected back for the Carabao Cup clash against Spurs and although hopes continue that Manu Lanzini will be back by January or February he will need time and games before returning to peak form.

We were told at the time of the Wilshere and Sanchez that a quality midfielder was the priority for January but now we understand that the manager is keen to bring in two.

His decision on a striker will rest largely on the form which Andy Carroll displays when he returns to action next month.

A Hammers source revealed: “Yes, it’s not giving too much away to admit that midfield is an area we will be addressing in the winter if the right player/s are available.”

We are cursed with injuries to key players. It was the same last season.Definately need to strengthen a small squad with some quality as mentioned.Looks like the hoodoo has struck again today and Arnie is not playing.Difficult game looks very awkward now without our talisman.
