Hammers change game to level

|

Half Time Irons 1 Norwich 1

diafra-sakho-542296The Irons were forced to abandon their usual counter attacking game after falling behind to a Robbie Brady goal and eventually looked a better team as a result.

We made a strong start but skipper Mark Noble’s sloppy pass towards James Tomkins was intercepted by the scorer who tucked the shot into the corner of Adrian’s net.

With the Hammers sitting back ready to counter attack the visitor dominated the play and should have been furher ahead when Cameron Jerome fired wide from 12 yards.

Eventually after a too long period of Canaries possession and pressure, the penny dropped and the Hammers started to press and squeeze the game.

Lanzini shot wide from a Kouyate ball in before the Argentine fired just wide from a 20 yard free kick.

But on 33 minutes the hugely impressive Sakho swung a pass to Payet from the centre circle and continued a great run to be on the end of a fine ball into the box from the Frenchman.

Sakho lifted over the top as the Hammers continued to press and Ruddy was forced to deal with a Reid header from a Payet corner.
