Should the Hammers be found guilty they could receive a heavy fine or even forced to play a game behind closed doors.
West Ham have been hit with an FA charge following the events at the match against Burnley last season.
A statement on the FA’s website declares: “West Ham United FC has been charged for failing to ensure that its spectators conducted themselves in an orderly fashion and that no spectators or unauthorised persons encroached onto the pitch during the Premier League match against Burnley FC on Saturday 10 March.”
The club has until Thursday 5 July to respond and ClaretandHugh understands they are ready to defend the charge.
Their defence is certain to be that the fault lies with the openers of the stadium who failed to provide adequate security during the March 10 invasion.
The club were able to recover enough from the incident to pull away from relegation and finish 13th but the FA have been investigating ever since.
I was at the game against Burnley. How the HELL can the FA blame Westham when we all could see that
1/ There was not enough stewards
2/ The Stewards did not react to the situation of crowd control
3/ How can Westham be fined when the club has no say till after the event on how many Stewards should be deployed when Westham do not employ them.
4/ The FA must be running short of funds and are looking at an easy prey to raise funds and using our Club as a means to fill there coffers.
5/ Can we supporters who were at the match be witnesses and give evidence or will it be like a kangaroo court 😡😡
Does anyone know the punishment meted out to Wigan following their ‘peaceful’ pitch invasion after beating Citeh? After all, the only ‘violence’ I saw was from Noble and the muppets lumping the returning protesters.
I was at the game, like I am with every game.
Putting all security issues asides. The fans who created all this sickened me, they completely ruined the game for the minority. I hope they learn that all this ultimately is on them, for what ever the reasons, they where the once that chose to storm the pitch and directors box.
They know that the media hate us, and will do everything they can to crucify us.
On a separate note this happened to at Leicester game, to a smaller existent in the sense it was about 4x pitch runners on the pitch. However nothing was in the media at all. The media to hate us, and its we are easy pickings.
Or perhaps it was done in an attempt to highlight the boards failings to a wider audience? After all, there were a fair few mentions in the media following the ‘storming of the pitch’ (pmsl) of the extremely toxic relationship between board and fans with a few questioning the boards running of the club and the move to the meccano set.
Personally I think it was the kick up the arris the board needed. Let’s hope another kick isn’t required in the future, although I won’t hold my breath.
