Hammers could be top ten by New Year

|

TableWest Ham rose to 15th place in the Premier League after the impressive 3-0 away win against Stoke City yesterday as Newcastle slipped into the relegation zone after their loss to Arsenal. The Hammers are now just one point off 12th place but in theory, could reach the top ten with three winnable games between now and 2nd January.

The Hammers face struggling Newcastle on Saturday 23rd December at the London Stadium and a win could put the Irons as high as 12th place for Christmas day depending on results around them.  Palace faces Swansea, Brighton faces Watford and Southampton face Huddersfield. A win over the Magpies and losses or draws for Swansea, Watford and Southampton would give David Moyes a 12th place Christmas present.

West Ham faces 16th place Bournemouth away on Boxing day and back to back wins over the Magpies and the Cherries could raise the Hammers point tally to 23 points which could be enough to reach the top ten with a bit of luck.

The new year brings relegation contenders West Bromwich Albion to the London Stadium on 2nd January. The Baggies are currently second from bottom and a fourth back to back win for the Hammers could put them on 26 points and as high as 9th place if other teams around fail to pick up points over the Christmas period.

But we are West Ham, what are the chances we get 4 games won back to back?

I am optimistic about our chances in each of the next four games. Indeed, now that Moyes seems to have sorted out our defence, I’m pretty hopeful against any side.

However, we shouldn’t rely on results between other sides. Let’s do our own thing, which we seem to be doing pretty well at the moment.

Agreed Markro we should concentrate on perfecting our style of play, we must keep improving because at the moment there are only 4 points between relegation &. Mid table this season there are a lot of teams in the same relegation battle so we must ensure we do not lose but try our best to win & gradually get some distance between us & the relegation zone

Yes agree Markro. Don’t let’s get ahead of ourselves. Lanzini will probably be suspended for a few games. We have a game in midweek & don’t think Newcastle have one. The last two weeks have been great but the Wolf is right- we are not know for ‘consistently good’! Although when did we last have three clean sheets, let alone with two against top sides?

Lets not get carried away, take one game at a time.
    Saying that, what a week.!! 7 points out of 9 & could/should have been 9 from 9
