Hammers defender faces uncertain future

|

Oxford sill waiting to put his name to a loan or permanent deal somewhere!

Reece Oxford’s immediate future  is looking uncertain with the club having received just one offer for the central defender’s services.

Oxford is not a part of new manager Manuel Pellegrini’s first team squad plans with Issa Diop, Anelo Ogbonna, Fabian Balbuena and Declan Rice ahead of him in the pecking order.

The young central defender was once seen as one of the brightest young prospects in the game with Manchester United, Manchester City and Arsenal all chasing him.

But so far this summer only Bolton Wanderers  have shown an interest in the player who currently commands a £20k a week salary.

We understand that the Championship club want to take the 19 year old on a year’s loan but are only prepared to pay half his wages which is not acceptable to the Irons.

There remains some interest from Borussia Monchengladbach where Oxford spent time last season before being recalled to the Hammers by boss of the time David Moyes.

But nothing has been firmed up and they may miss out to RB Leipzig who have shown some interest over the last year.

Not sure why Oxford has gone from hero to zero and his form not progressed since the arsenal debut? Maybe his attitude has changed and he thought he doesn’t need to work harder like Dec rice has done with success but he had better snap out of whatever the reason otherwise talent will be wasted once again as has happened many times with other youngsters .

He has the same agent as Quina, Berahino, Sterling etc doesn’t he Razor ? His mum also seems to like chirping in, this is a kid a bit like Berahino, Quina and Sterling that should have just been allowed to focus on football, they have amazing potential but if the wrong person is in their ear constantly and they are impressionable or intimidated by them it distracts them, they should just tell the guy to do one and get an agent that clubs can work with and that will leave them alone to focus on improving as a footballer and growing into a man but they just look like big kids throwing their toys out when they don’t get their own way. Guardiola has obviously had an effect on Sterling but then he puts 120% into every one, its not practical for most managers to operate that way, even with Sterling you watch him for England he is not capable of he same levels he produces for his club so you have to say if there is a common denominator they should try to eliminate it from their lives and they would begin to grow up.

I just hope his new club will pay his cosmetic surgery bills, as they have those headphones surgically removed. Perhaps then he will start to listen to his coaches, and stop believing he has already arrived, and is waiting for the rest of the world to realize it.
What a complete shame. What a complete lack of guidance. Hopefully for his own sake, he will come back some day, and haunt us.

A terrible waste. The kid should be a first team mainstay and fringe England regular by now, not grubbing around waiting for a third tier pick-up. I bet if you talk to him, the word ‘respect’ gets used – maybe some of these lads realised that if you had to earn it, not demand it, they’d get on better.

Is Reece Oxford this year’s Ravel Morrison?

theres one thing that no one seems to mention, playing with the kids and stepping up. he isn’t good enough, having a good debut v Arsenal doesn’t mean you have nailed down a place. i watched lots of his development games and he is nowhere near good enough for any premier league team. we should have taken a 10 mill bid last year and got rid

Very odd today that Ladbrokes have him at 80-1 to score today, same as Cresswell and better than both Diop,Ogbonna and Balbeuna who are all expected to play at some point.
