Hammers eyeing Championship defender to solve huge issue

|

West Ham are being linked with a swoop to sign Lloyd Kelly from Bournemouth in January as David Moyes looks to solve the Hammers’ defensive woes.

The club have both Kurt Zouma and Angelo Ogbonna on the treatment table and The Daily Telegraph reports that Kelly has been identified as the man to solve the issue.

The 23-year-old is comfortable using his left foot and that appeals to Moyes, but there is a question mark over whether the Cherries would be willing to let him leave.

Bournemouth are currently second in the Championship table and are chasing automatic promotion back to the top-flight.

There is no fee mentioned but Kelly has made 19 appearances in the second-tier this season, scoring once, and has also won 10 caps for England’s U21 team.

He is valued at £9m by Transfermarkt while the report claims that there is also interest in Marseille’s Duje Caleta-Car, although it seems like Kelly may have emerged as the top target.
