Hammers five down on squad numbers

|

West Ham will need to file their twenty-five man squad with the Premier League at 5 pm on 16th October when the domestic transfer window ends.

Premier League clubs are allowed up to twenty-five players which must include eight homegrown players if they are to use the full 25 man squad.

Players under 21 do not count in the squad and clubs can use an unlimited number of young players.

Assuming Felipe Anderson leaves on-loan West Ham have just 20 players in the current squad of which eight are homegrown.

Michail Antonio  (Home grown)

Fabian Balbuena

Aaron Cresswell (Home grown)

Issa Diop

Lukasz Fabianski

Pablo Fornals

Ryan Fredericks (Home grown)

Sebastien Haller

Manuel Lanzini

David Martin (Home grown)

Arthur Masuaku

Mark Noble (Home grown)

Angelo Ogbonna

Robert Snodgrass

Andriy Yarmolenko

Jarrod Bowen (Home grown)

Tomas Soucek

Darren Randolph (Home grown)

Vladimir Coufal

Declan Rice (Home grown)

Should they want to, West Ham has five squad places to fill before 16th October.

If you look at that squad, it’s worryingly thin.
3 of them are goalkeepers, so 17 outfield Players including Nobes who looks further off the pace than last year.
Hopefully we don’t get 2 or 3 injuries, we could be up somewhere with no paddle!

If Hammers sign Dawson who was instrumental in both WBA & Watford’s consecutive relegations & cannot get into Watford’s Team. So has been told he can leave it proves Moyes & Sullivan are clueless!

  • Dave says:

On the other hand, none of the players sold or released ever played for us and just picked up their wages( except Diagana).

Is Snoddy not homegrown or is Scotland considered foreign?

Looks OK to me. List wouldn’t look much better with Wilshere, Reid, Roberto, Cullen & Diangana. Just numbers filling up spaces we might find useful later. RLC was a good miss.

Let’s see how far we can go with what we’ve got instead of anticipating chronic injuries. We can deal with those when they arise. Much better allocation and targeting of resource.

A couple of injuries and we are in trouble. I am not aware of any PL club that has ever submitted less than a 25 man squad but then again we are talking about Sullivan. No issue with whom we’ve let go other than Grady but to not have at least 3-4 replacements, even if hungry players with potential from the Championship is both reckless and negligent. Hope that will be rectified by 16th, and no Dawson please. Challenge now is prices will rise. Sullivan is such an inept chairman.

I just dont get it . What’s the point in letting Wiltshire go and Anderson..its crazy ..they might be crap ..but I would rather have them for when we get injuries….Sullivan is a complete joke now ..that squad us ridiculously thin …grabbing the money David nothing changes …what would happen if Antonio pulls a hamstring and then haller gets injured..just one of many problems they still havnt sorted over the last 2 years ..makes me sick

  • Hammerpete says:

We can add our young players comi g through to that number – it’s what we’ve been good at. Don’t sign players for the sake of it (Dawson!) please!

  • zahamoore says:

The two players whom I am sorry to see leave are Grady Diang and Josh Cullen

They might not have made the starting line up but would provide solid back up which we no longer have – I guess Cullen would like to be playing now week in week out – but he would have been a useful replacement if / when required for Rice / Soucek

People are talking of us not going for Loftus – Cheek – but he would ceratinly want to be playing whenever he is fit and I’m not sure who he would have replaced

  • mooro66uk says:

Loftus-Cheek= 150 grand a week to sit on our bench. Do us a favour.

  • George says:

The average age of those 19 is 28y 6m ! No wonder we were against 5 subs – I would hazard a guess that not only is that the smallest squad, it is the oldest.

  • The Cat says:

…..and STILL idiots are trying to tie Moyes to these incompetent fools???

If things do go wrong because we have barely functioning numbers… WHAT will be the excuse then? Because the manager wanted certain (reasonably priced) players for his squad to fit with his preferred team selections? It’s not simply about bodies.
There are many people in this world doing things that they clearly shouldn’t be allowed to do, and our current owners are amongst those people….. In a pictorial dictionary, alongside the word Incompetent there would be a photo of GSB!
They’ve reached a whole new level of incompetence and being unfit for the positions that they currently hold.
