Hammers following correct concussion protocols

|

Hammer Issa Diop is being carefully monitored by West Ham doctors and medical staff who are following the correct concussion protocols a West Ham insider has insisted.

The West Ham centre back suffered a nasty clash of heads with Anthony Martial in the fifth round of the FA Cup at Old Trafford on Tuesday and both he and the Manchester United player were allowed to carry on after being assessed  on the pitch by medics.

Diop would later be subbed at half time by David Moyes as a precaution becoming the first concussion substitution in English football since regulations were introduced last week, Ryan Fredericks taking his place.

Medical protocols state a player will be required to rest ten days if they suffer concussion.

Claret and Hugh understand that medics do not believe that Diop suffered from a concussion and will be allowed to play next Monday if medically cleared by a doctor.

I would of thought that after being take off for concussion then he should not play again for 10 days especially against a team like Sheff Utd. I’m a bit worried about Balbuena, he seems to have gone in the same way as last season Not coming on for Diop is a bit alarming and having Coufal as a center back didn’t work that well..
