Hammers halfway towards achieving Moyes ambition

|

Mark Noble reckons the Hammers are halfway towards achieving the type of squad David Moyes is so keen to produce over the next 12 months.

Moyes has made it crystal clear that it’s all about youth and energy as he attempts to reshape the team for a more successful future.

He made a decent start with the arrivals of 25 year old Tomas Soucek and Jarrod Bowen 23, in the winter which helped ease down the age level given the likes of oggy, 32, Nobes himself, 34, Lukasz Fabianski 35, and Mikey Antonio 30.

Nobes believes despite a really difficult start to the season much confidence will have been taken from the results at the end of last season – certainly that demonstrated the importance of maintaining performances.

The captain feels that things are looking pretty much okay whilst insisting that we can’t fall below the standards we saw as we put all thoughts of relegation behind us.

Speaking at the press conference he said: “If you look at the last seven or eight games, we showed a real high level of consistency. We need to carry that on.

I love the fact that Dec’s  still a young player, Ben Johnson, Grady Diangana’s back, if we can keep the young players – players like Jarrod and Tomas, Pablo Fornals – coming through to push the older players in the team, that’s what we need.

My main aim now – I’m 34 in May – is to keep myself in the best shape that I can. I train every day and I play most weeks, but for me, it’s to push the other players – the young boys like Declan, Grady and Josh [Cullen] – and to keep pushing them to improve and get better because for me,

I’ve always said it: my life’s a lot better when West Ham’s doing well, full stop. I just want the Club to push on and do well.”

I know that this article is about Moyes’s vision for this club which I have brought into and believe that he is most definitely the manager that we need at this club for a long period of stability to give this club back it’s identity and direction. I don’t totally believe that we are halfway through the process of turning this club around but probably the current players are much closer to understanding what Moyes expects from his players. But this article says Loads about Mark Noble the man.
Sometimes as supporters we believe that nobody cares about this club as much as we do….. If that belief is still held by some, it needs to be corrected because, for Mr West Ham, West Ham IS his life. He lives and breathes West Ham… Non-Stop and his daily emotions are attached totally to this club.
Let’s hope that he is NEVER let go by this club and that he is retained for as long as he wants.

  • I totally agree with what you have said about mark noble and the club let’s hope it is a new era for such a great club coyi

Mark’s played at the top level for a long time and whilst I’m sure he will want to play regularly, he knows his involvement with the team is in transition to a coaching/mentorship role. He won’t care if it’s him or Josh Cullen winning games for us, as long as we’re winning games as a team.

    Good on him.
