Hammers hit by postponement

|

West Ham’s U23 clash with Liverpool on Sunday has been called off due to COVID, per the club’s official website.

The senior team were due to face Norwich on Saturday but that game was called off earlier this week.

And the Hammers’ kids have suffered the same fate, with their encounter against Liverpool suspended on Saturday evening.

The Irons have released a statement on their website confirming that it was the Reds who took the decision to suspend the game, as they were unable to put a team out for the fixture on Merseyside.

West Ham had already travelled up to Liverpool for the game and expressed their disappointment in the statement.

The Hammers’ kids now face a lengthy wait for their next fixture, which is scheduled to take place on January 10th against Leeds.

It remains to be seen if Liverpool’s senior team will be able to play on Sunday, with Jurgen Klopp’s men facing Spurs in north London.
