Talented but disruptive winger wanted by West Ham

One of the stranger rumours this afternoon involves the transfer of Wilfried Gnonto to West Ham United during this transfer window. It is being claimed that Leeds United are both relieved and confident the player will sign for the Hammers.

European transfer expert Sacha Tavolieri suggests that Leeds are expecting to sell Gnonto to West Ham in the January transfer window, intending to replace the Italy international with Manuel Benson from Burnley FC. . . all very specific stuff.

How this aligns with David Moyes‘ infamous MOT test remains uncertain, considering the winger’s label as ‘the most disruptive player in the Leeds dressing room.’ Given Moyes’ reputation for discipline, one has to question the wisdom of signing a player who appears unconcerned about upsetting the mood of the dressing room.

Wilfred Gnonto is a target for West Ham

Talented but disruptive winger? : Leeds United’ Gnonto breaks away from Thilo Kehrer last season.

Gnonto reportedly expressed a desire to leave Leeds last summer following their relegation to the English Championship. He is alleged to have kicked off in a attempt to force through a £30m move to Everton last term.

The 20-year-old Italian striker, a product of Inter’s Academy, has recorded one goal and one assist in 23 appearances across all competitions this season. His contract with Leeds United is set to expire in June 2027.

Gnonto made his senior Italy debut under Roberto Mancini in 2022 and has contributed one goal and two assists with the Azzurri in 13 international appearances.
