Hammers jump up to fourth in Premier League form table

West Ham has jumped up to fourth in the Premier League form table after recording their fourth straight win in a row giving them thirteen points from the last six games.

Manuel Pellegrini equalled a feat last set by Sam Allardyce in 2014. They ran started on February 1st 2014 the Hammers beat Swansea winning 2-0 thanks to a Kevin Nolan brace despite Andy Carroll being sent off. On February 8th, West Ham travelled to the Midlands to face Aston Villa at Villa Park winning 2-0 with Nolan scoring twice again. The third consecutive win came three days later as West Ham secured a midweek victory over Norwich City at the Boleyn Ground thanks to very late strikes by James Collins before Mo Diame. The fourth win was completed when West Ham overcame Southampton 3-1 at the Boleyn Ground thanks to goals from Matt Jarvis, Carlton Cole and Kevin Nolan in front of a 33,000 crowd.

Allardyce then went on to lose the next three games against Everton, Stoke and Manchester United.

West Ham last won five top-flight league games in a row under Alan Pardew in the winter of 2006, beating Villa, Fulham, Arsenal, Sunderland and Birmingham City. It was actually a run of seven wins which included two FA cup round wins against Norwich and Blackburn.

Before that, the King of the Jungle Harry Redknapp also recorded five on the bounce between January and February 1996 when the Hammers beat Coventry, Nottingham Forest, Spurs, Chelsea and then Newcastle. The longest winning run in the top flight was the famous season of 1985/1986 was a John Lyall team that recorded a massive nine successive league wins.
