Hammers kill name change rumours

|

800px-West_Ham_United_FC.svgThe Hammers have tonight quashed speculation that the club will change its name to West Ham London.

Speculation has been rife on the social media networks all day but a club statement has been issued killing the rumour.

The statement said:  “Contrary to some recent speculation, it is categorically not looking to change the Club name, which will always remain as West Ham United”

The club did confirm that it asked the Supporter Advisory Board on Tuesday night whether the Club should continue to explore an evolution of the badge with a view to opening up consultation to the wider supporter base. The current crest has not been updated since 1997.

A full consultation with fans is expected to take place within two weeks with the final choice made by the supporters including an option of no change.
