The Hammers are today being reported as having made inquiries about Bayer Leverkusen centre back Philipp Wollscheid.
The German 6ft 4in 25 year old central defender played 26 times for the Champions League outfit last term and has two senior caps for Germany. He also thought to be on Southampton’s radar.
Earlier in the summer, Leverkusen confirmed they would be willing to listen to offers for the German defender, and West Ham are said to have him as one of their targets.
Wollschied is reported as saying recently: ‘Outside of Germany, the main interest seems to be coming from the English Premier League, but I don’t know yet. We will have to wait and see.’
