Hammers look favourites for central defender

|

West Ham are still considered favourites to snap up Nottingham Forest central defender Joe Worrall.

Burnley boss Sean Dyche has been very much in the frame for the player but according to local paper Lancs Live will bow out gracefully should the Hammers move in with a firm bid.

Dyche has James Tarkowski in his squad and has signed two other central defenders in Nathan Collins from Stoke City and Jacob Bedeau on a free transfer.

He is now believed to be concerned with strengthening at the other end of the pitch leaving the Hammers a run at the £10mmillion rated Worrall who is reported to be a real David Moyes type.

He is a strong tackler, hugely powerful and always ready to put his head in where it hurts according to those who have watched him regularly.

Moyes is known to have made the central defensive position a priority and the 24 year old 6ft 4in central defender is very much on his wanted list although Brentford are also interested.

Not sure signings like this are going to get us into the CL, and keep our top players. I am not against signing young players from the Championship, for sure we should but in addition we need 3-4 top players as well as 1-2 from the Championship. Though looking at our U23’s I think we have 2-3 really top young players coming through, Ashby, Baptiste, Mipo..

Signing just like this got us into Europe! Think Antonio, Bowen, Creswell etc. Then think of the so called superstar signings that added so little to the West Ham game … Anderson, Yarmalenko, Haller and the money each has lost us…

Championship and Czech type players for me every time… less expensive, down to earth and give 110% … Who could ask for more!

Anybody know if he can play as a left sided CB? Given an opportunity and good coaching he might be a good fit, certainly the right age, but I know nothing of his ability level.

Not sure if we are gearing up for CL football John, realistically contending for a top eight finish seems feasible though.
