Hammers may be forced into Byram bid

|

Sam-ByramWest Ham may be forced into early transfer action on Leeds right back after Leeds owners say they want to sell now.

The 22 year right-back is out of contract in the summer and is refusing to sign an extension at Elland Road. It is claimed he is attracting interest from several Premier League clubs including Liverpool, Norwich, Everton and West Ham.

Leeds owner Cellino admits he’s rather lose Byram now and get some money rather than wait till the summer and be relying on a compensation tribunal.

We just want to sell Byram because he wants to leave,” Cellino told the Daily Mirror.

“It is better to lose him now. It is less painful for the club.”

It is thought West Ham would need to pay around £5m to land the right side player but prices are always inflated in the January transfer window and with competition from Liverpool, Norwich and Everton the Hammers could be forced into a bidding war which Sullivan would not want to do.

West Ham are understood to have a list of nine young right backs for consideration to replace Jenkinson in the Summer so it remains to be seen whether they let this one go or make a cheeky bid to seal the deal early.

Is he the class we are looking for ? Or are we all fed up with Jenkinson and Tomo playing out of position,
Personally with coaching from Dicksy I think Tomo could be the right back us and England are looking for,if not let’s look at the whole world and bring in a talent with Tomo as back up
No rush this year and I thought we did not have the money or wages under fair play rules,

We need to buy now, not wait until the summer, I think he is a good buy, the clubs who are in for him like us have watched him, there will always be fans at another club who may not like a player, the same happens with Our Club, some rave over one of our players and I would sell tomorrow, and replace him with someone more mobile and all round, that’s life! we don’t all have the same opinions.

hammer8909 totally agree and I think you phrased it spot on. He is an inconsistent player and imo I just do not think he is premiership standard. I think you can get far better value buying someone else. I really hope West Ham don’t make another mistake – just don’t think he is a good buy.

    Wait until the summer!
No need to rush and burn the wallet ?
OS ! LOADS OF MONEY TO SPEND ?
Wait until the summer or bid 3 mill and see if he really wants to come to us , if he doesn’t then he will go where the payday is !!
Just don’t get mugged off .

Mixed opinions on this guy. I currently live in Leeds and have seen him play a few times and listen to opinions of the leeds fans ive spoken to. Inconsistent would be my take on him. He’d be a great utility player and a great JOB replacement, but i dont think he is a new cresswell from what i’ve seen or heard especially as hes played 99 per cent of the season as a winger not a right back
