Hammers need to turn over awful Carrow Road record

Careful Mark Lawrenson is going for a draw in the Hammers clash against Norwich City at Carrow Road and despite him not mentioning it the record suggests he is on track!

For it’s been 19 league games since the Irons have won a League game at the place  a dreary record stretching back to 1973.

We have beaten them in the FA Cup but as things stand this maybe  barren country in which to look for points at a particularly tough time in our recent history.

Stats can be easily dismissed  in most cases but when you are in this sort of situation it messes with the brain a biyt to know that we haven’t beaten them at this level since 1973 despite the clubs’ various absences from the highest level in that time.

Three points will be invaluable particularly with two of the bottom three having failed to win last night but this can’t be seen as a given in the circumstances.

Lawrenson -giving his prediction at https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/53341826 said: “Both of these sides actually played all right in midweek, but neither of them have anything to show for it.

Norwich’s defeat at Watford means they have lost six league games in a row and it is just a matter of time until their relegation is confirmed.

West Ham lost at home to Burnley but they created enough chances to win that game and it still feels as if they are in better shape than the sides below them.

A win at Carrow Road would be massive for the Hammers, but even a point would edge them closer to safety.”

Lawro’s prediction: 1-1

  1. I can’t remember how many “ must win “ games West Ham have been involved in down the Years. , but it’s a LOT . And in my opinion the Norwich game is another . A draw may not be enough to survive on points . Watford & Man United are definitely going to be very tough games . Hopefully we can find safety before the Villa game . We are definitely capable of getting all three points against Norwich and should turn up and prove it . Can’t really see any excuses not to .

  2. The players should treat the game as though they are playing Man Utd and must win but will they ?
