Hammers reveal Watkins/Eze stance

|

West Ham have no immediate plans to move in on Ollie Watkins despite being “big admirers.”

As explained on this site in earlier stories the Brentford striker would cost a minimum £20 million and it would not be on to consider both him and Eberechi Eze at around the same £20 million before this season’s transfer window closes.

One or the other is more than possible and we understand that Eze is the player preferred of the two as David Moyes looks for craft and creativity.

That of course should have been the expectation from Manu Lanzini and Felipe Anderson but both – having failed miserably – are now very much on the manager’s available  for offers list.

Watkins AND Eze would have been the perfect scenario but club insiders have revealed that this is one of the toughest markets to move players ever.

One told us by e mail: “Watkins is obviously fancied but the manager is focused on bringing in defenders first and the club need to sell at very decent prices to bringing in Eze and Watkins.”

We are going to need to bring in a
Another striker regardless, haller Antonio and Silva are not going to be adequate for obvious reasons.

Even a loan will do, but its suicide to go into the season without extra cover up front.

  • Hammerpete says:

Why Eze when we have Grady? Striker and defenders first – we have midfield attack surely?

    • Kent-iron says:

Agreed, we don’t need another midfielder! Striker and defence before anything else.

  • Razorwine says:

So whoes the creative midfielder then when lanzini and Anderson have been sold? Why some people on here think we don’t need eze who is really a top player at 22 really astounds me. Get him in now with getting rid of hugill also to QPR makes total sense and as for the rest that’s down to our disliked board maybe they want another relegation struggle in hopefully their last season at our club before they sell up and jog on

  • busby says:

The priority should be defenders and striker
