Hammers set to ‘blank’ midfielder

|

Celta Vigo midfielder Stanislav Lobotka appears to have little chance of joining Manuel Pellegrini at the London Stadium this month.

Lobotka has been linked with a move away from the club this month based mainly on his desire to work with our manager.

The story arose at the same time as it became clear that we were deeply interested in  Maxi Gomez whom the club have admitted they are interested in signing.

If we believe reports in France the story is that PSG, Everton and ourselves want Lobotka yet but it looks very unlikely that we will want him given the midfield strength at the club when everybody is fit.

Manuel Lanzini is a month away ,  Andriy Yarmolenko, Carlos Sanchez and Jack Wilshere are currently out of action but Michail Antonio, Samir Nasri, Mark Noble and Pedro Obiang are available.

It would be a surprise, with strikers a priority, whether the manager would be looking for another midfielder however much one of them may want to play for him.

Nasri’s out of action too?!? What did I miss?

Obiang obviously wants out, so if the club thought that Lobotka was good enough to replace him at the right price, I imagine something could still happen.

I had high hopes for Obiang, but he’s only ever shown glimpses of potential, and is bang average IMO. Can’t see the harm in giving him his move and bringing in a guy who clearly wants to come and play for us.
