Hammers set to miss out on Serie A ace

|

West Ham are set to miss out on the signing of Gerard Deulofeu from Udinese.

The Hammers have been linked with a potential swoop to sign the ex-Watford ace from the Serie A side.

Calciomercato reports that the Spaniard has instead chosen to stay in Italy with a move to Napoli.

A Spain international with four caps, the winger enjoyed an exceptional season and scored 13 goals in Serie A, while also registering five assists.

Deulofeu actually has plenty of Premier League experience, playing for both Everton and Watford, and made 127 appearances in the top-flight, scoring 20 times and laying on a total of 24 assists.

But it seems that he will be staying in Italy for the foreseeable future, with Napoli set to pay around €15m to secure his signature; that equates to £12.8m.

The Hammers are instead currently focusing on the signing of Nayef Aguerd from Rennes, which is edging ever closer.
