After recent performances we went to the Emirates in great heart yesterday fully expecting perhaps some sort of result!
For very good domestic reasons I can’t get into here I missed a game which most tell me, and highlights suggested, we were far the better team.
I had many tests from pals on the Candh forum telling me we should have been three up by half time and even a brief look at the highlights were enough to leave those who like me missed the game feeling seriously disappointed.
But as Jarrod Bowen suggested elsewhere on the site we certainly have enough to get out of trouble on the basis of what we’ve seen against Liverpool, Saints and the Gooners.
David Moyes has taken a lot of criticism since he arrived but in all honesty he has turned the team around pretty quickly given what he inherited and a brief look at the stats above from the BBC tells you all you need to know about the performance against Arsenal.
How about a stat for how many times Noble didn’t get there soon enough , watched people run past him , gave the ball away , average running speed . Guarantee it is the worst in the league !!
He can only play every other game. If desire counted for anything, he would be the top in the league. If we are relegated, his experience will prove invaluable.
Hold the faith.
?????? ARESENAL TWO SHOTS ON TARGET,, SCORED ONE ,, WEST HAM, SIX SHOTS ON TARGET , SCORED 0 ,, NOT IMPRESSIVE 😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡
Stats mean nothing if you don’t put the ball in the onion bag? Its simples isn’t it? To play football and not to do this is a crime ? “No one remembers a loser ” (said the great Brian Clough) simple mentality ? If you score one they have to score two? At seventy grand a week what could be harder??? Honestly some people take money under false pretences IMOH!!!!!
Speaking of stats, not sure if anyone’s come across this stat that was mentioned casually by the pre-match presenters before the Arsenal game yesterday. It seems that West Ham currently have this season’s highest shots on target percentage (just over 44%) of all Premiership clubs. Upon digging around on the web, I came across this article published in Jan 2020 which bears this out:
https://thefootballfaithful.com/five-premier-league-sides-with-the-most-shots-on-target-this-season
It’s a pretty ironic statistic considering we’re way behind the other teams in terms of actual total number of shots.
Some more amazing stats for you Hugh. Played 5, won 0, drawn 0, lost 5. Goals scored 3 goals conceded 11. Moyes away record since his return. Believe his records in two spells as manager is under a point per match. Only Sullivan could ever contemplate this self proclaimed ‘winner’ as a credible manager. Not once but twice.
Pity we cant stay up with
Impressive srats or playing well …dont we need points..?
I give up …
I would have hoped Moyes would have been able to get the quality players like Lnzini, Anderson performing rather than having to rely on Antonio. He now has Yarmolenko, Anderson, Bowen, Haller, Lanzini and Antonio all fit. A week free to prepare them to take on Wolves. Any other side in bottom half of table would love this selection of players. Let’s see if Moyes can get them playing next week. If not surely time to move him on and let someone else have a go. Even Nolan
Nil, yes NIL goals. Trying to win matches Moyes style with 30 pct possession against teams with great attacking players will nearly always end in defeat. Stats do lie. The final score never does. Moyes 1 win in last 9. We were better under Pellegrini with Antonio and Fabianski injured and no Bowen or Soucek. With the fully fit squad at Moyes disposal now there are now no excuses. The match was there to be won yesterday, and yet again he leaves a floundering Noble on for 75 mins trying to hold a shape, rather than trying to take game to a poor Arsenal side. Why we have to watch Noble ponderous attempts to win ball and then slowly move the ball, when Lanzini, Anderson Snodgrass Soucek are still on bench is baffling. Noble was fine for 60 mins. But Moyes needs to wake up and realise he is finished past this point
