Hammers still sweating on defender

|

West Ham are continuing to sweat over the fitness of Nayef Aguerd.

Some reports this morning claimed that he could be out for at least a month after sustaining an ankle injury in the pre-season defeat to Rangers.

However, we are continuing to make inquiries into his injury status and hope to be able to report that things are not as bad as the early speculation appears to be suggesting.

There is the potential that he could miss two months of action if the club’s worst fears are realised, but our early information is that the Irons are confident that he could be back far earlier than that.

It also means that boss David Moyes will be wary of selling Issa Diop to Fulham or anywhere else; the Irons have continued to drag their heels over that deal, and he now looks likely to stay, at least until we know the full extent of Aguerd’s.
