Italian media reports suggest that the leading candidate for the West Ham managerial position has declined an offer from the club.
Julen Lopetegui’s upcoming role as AC Milan’s next manager removes him from the list of potential successors to David Moyes at West Ham. This development may be welcomed by many West Ham supporters who felt Lopetegui’s approach to football was too similar to that of Moyes. Critics have noted Lopetegui’s preference for defensive play and his hesitancy to integrate young talent, deeming him unsuitable for West Ham.
With Lopetegui out of the picture, West Ham is forced to reconsider their managerial options. The club is reportedly exploring several other prospects, including Paulo Fonseca of Lille, Sebastian Hoeness of Stuttgart, Hansi Flick, and Marco Silva from Fulham. The competition for a new manager is fierce, making the choice crucial for the future direction of the team.
We’re taking these reports with something of a pinch of salt at C&H. Whilst there was obvious interest from Lopetegui’s advisors and possibly a meeting, it’s unlikely any firm offer was ever made by the club.
Let’s hope it’s true, don’t need another defensive coach, frying pan, fire springs to mind. I would prefer Fonseca, but I won’t hold me breath.
Might as well keep Moyes if Lopetegui is the alternative.
I’m glad didn’t want Lopetegui. Would prefer Fonseca
Rejected or not, we don’t want that dinosaur
