Declan Rice carried Andriy Yarmolenko’s shirt onto the field before West Ham played Wolves on Sunday.
The Hammers’ skipper led by example and held up Yarmolenko’s shirt, before the stadium sent an anti-war message, as they sent love and prayers to the people of Ukraine, who are suffering so horribly.
Yarmo has been given a few days off as a result of Russia’s invasion of their neighbouring country, with the winger having family in the country.
As a result, he was not included in the squad but his presence was felt before kick-off.
Rice held up the shirt to immense cheers, before taking a moment to tap the name on the back of the shirt and hand it off to a member of staff.
It was a genuinely touching moment, and we would like to take this opportunity to send our best wishes to Yarmolenko, his family, and everyone in Ukraine.
