Hammers turn down offer of Man City player

|

West Ham have turned down a chance to sign Manchester City centre back Tosin Adarabioyo for £8m according to a source close to the player.

Adarabioyo is yet to make his Premier League debut for Manchester City but has spent time with West Bromwich Albion and Blackburn Rovers.

He made 34 Championship appearances for Rovers last season and is out of contract at the Etihad Stadium next summer with the club yet to decide whether to offer him a new long term contract.

David Moyes believes the young defender is 12-18 months off being a Premier League player and has therefore decided to pass on the chance as he needs a centre back who can hit the ground running this season.

West Ham conceded 62 goals last season and he is desperate to find experienced defensive reinforcements before the transfer window closes.

With limited transfer funds available to him it is felt he cannot gamble on players who may or may not come good in the future.
