Happy Fornals looks for more of the same

|

Exciting Pablo Fornals is looking forward to saying “hi” to old mates and beating them in tomorrow’s friendly against Athletico Bilbao.

He scored a particularly fine goal against them in La Liga last season and would love to repeat the dose for the Irons at the London Stadium.

Discussing the 90 minutes ahead he told www.whufc.com. “I’m looking forward to the game.I want to play the match and I want to see my old friends in their team. I think it will be a good match.”

The No18 opened the scoring for West Ham against Hertha Berlin on Wednesday, helping Manuel Pellegrini’s side on their way to a thrilling 5-3 victory.

And he continued: “I’m so happy to be here, first of all, and to score my first goal for the team. It was a crazy game on Wednesday but finally, we got the win, which was the important thing.

“I’m very happy here. The team is a very good one and I’m so happy to be here with my new teammates. I want the same as them in that I want to have a good season.”

ClaretandHugh says: Fornals made a great start to life as a Hammer and showed a a near immediate chemistry with the rest of midfield and Seb Haller up front in the crazy Hertha game. It  was easy to see why the management duo kept his imminent signing at the time under the radar. Had they waited until after the European tournament which Spain eventually won they would undoubtedly had to go a lot higher than the reported £27 million. He is forever moving around the pitch looking for space and killer positions which was the key when he followed the move forward for his goal – eventually being found by Haller. We will be looking for more improvement from him and the rest of the team tomorrow ahead of the Manchester City clash and should the boss select the same team as started the last two friendlies we will probably be looking at his chosen first X1 for the start of the season assuming Ryan Fredericks hasn’t recovered from a groin niggle injury and Ben Johnson is not omitted in favour of Arthur Masuaku.

All looking good so far apart from conceading so many goals . It was our big issue last season , but let’s not forget Injuries to key players shaped our season somewhat . Pelligrini wants to play with a high press upfield but needs defensive stability . Traore would be a great sighning if it takes pressure off the defence .

Our attack looks awesome , I love Fornals & Haller already great stuff . I just so worry about our defence . If we want to push somewhere near the top six , we need to invest in a defensive signing . I hope we can push the budget on this as need a quality defender . ⚒
