Heavy handed stewards cause trouble again

|

west-ham-olympic-stadium-775477Heavy handed stewards caused more problems at the London Stadium yesterday.

A security response team was sent into block 113 in the West stand following reports that a Manchester United fan was celebrating in the home end after Mata’s 63rd minute goal. Emotions were high after going one nil down and a steward can be seen in a fan video pushing a West Ham supporter which sparks off disorder in the standing section. The steward in question is pulled away and stewards quickly withdraw from the block fearing for their own safety.

An eye witness in block 113 told us the steward later came back down to the supporter in question and apologised and they both shook hands. However the online video footage published on the Daily Express website this afternoon is yet another chance for the media to blame West Ham fans again for being the aggressors.

Stadium operators say they are reviewing CCTV footage before making any comment on the incident.

Met Police say there no arrests yesterday and the game was largely trouble free

Sparks off disorder in the standing section ???????????????

Sorry to raise this point there are no standing sections in any PL statium, by law it’s not allowed. So when reporting these incidents use the phase ” section where fans are illegally standing”. We don’t want the press, FA and PL believing WHU are breaking the law by having setup and are operating standing areas. Surely you know by now the press, FA and PL hate us and are looking for any reasons to punish us, having Mike Dean ref our games seems to be latest punishment.

I blame Tevez, everyone loved the cheeky cockneys before he signed.

    • Come on Badger, supporters stand at almost every PL stadium up and down the land.

It is NOT against the law as you claim, the taylor report said every supporter must have a seat but does NOT prescribe you must sit in it. It is the Premier League and their ground regulations which say fans must sit down when the game is in play. A civil offence at best certainly not criminal!

These thugs dressed up in Response Team jackets cause more aggro and resentment – their use is heavy handed and unnecessary.

I gotta be honest but since the first couple of months i aint seen no biggie issues with them.Yeah ok some of them are a bit sulky looking & grumpy but they aint done anything hardcore outrageous.
I have been far more heavily handled in many more other grounds round the country over the years.
