Divin Mubama, a former West Ham United academy forward, has passed his medical and now has completed his move to Manchester City. The 19-year-old striker’s contract with the Hammers expired in June, and he has now signed for the Premier League champions.
West Ham were keen to retain Mubama’s services, but they were unable to agree on a new deal. The club received £1.2 million in compensation for the player’s departure.
Mubama will join Manchester City’s Under-21 squad and provide competition for Jayden Heskey, the son of former Liverpool and Aston Villa striker Emile Heskey. The young striker has a strong track record in youth football, having scored 30 goals in 47 matches in the U18 Premier League.
Mubama’s move to Manchester City represents a significant opportunity for his development. However, he is unlikely to see much, if any game time for the first team. It will be interesting to see how he gets on, as he is making the step up from Under 18’s to Under 21’s this season.
We wish him well.
Here’s hoping he is as successful as the guy who left us for West Bromwich (Mark Noble’s mate). Can’t quite recall his name now.
