Here’s the story of Ngakia’s Anfield night out

|

New boy JeremyNgakia came under the spotlight at Anfield where ClaretandHugh PlayerWatch reporter Danny Leach kept a very close eye on the youngster who was making just his second appearance for the club.

Here is the story of the 19 year old’s  contribution.

19 – Tries to block Manes clearance from a corner and track backs to defend the forthcoming counter attack

31 – Puts in a potent cross to the back post which just goes beyond Antonio

37 – Trips Mane on the edge of the area giving away a foul

39 – Intercepts a pass by Mane and drives forward playing a one/two before crossing the ball which goes out for a corner.

42 – Nutmegged by Mane but he loses the ball

44 – Tackles Mane and forces him to play back to Robertson. He intercepts the ball and passes to Noble

53 – Makes a threatening run with the ball passing the ball to Rice

59 – Holds the ball up well from Chamberlain checking in and out but his cross is saved by Allison

60 – Makes a fine sliding challenge on Mane getting the ball out for a corner

90+2 – Skills up Chamberlain, taking the ball past him and playing one just too long for Haller

Verdict – 8 – Possibly the best player for West Ham tonight where the whole team were tenacious and unlucky to get something from the game. Yes it may be early days but he is looking like our long term solution at right back. He was terrific both up and down the pitch tonight and nullified Mane. He displays great composure as well and reading of the game, he looks the complete package. We’re looking forward to seeing him play in more games in claret & blue.

The kid did good. Against a player of Manes quality you could say he did brilliantly. Be interesting to see how he gets on against bigger more physical opponents but against Liverpool, twice, I couldn’t fault him.

  • Hamptonese says:

Very impressed. Interesting that LFC were attacking a lot down our left as Mane wasn’t getting much change out of Ngakia.

Like the look of this kid and hopefully going to play a fair bit more over the coming weeks. Played 2 games this season both against Liverpool I believe and done really well in both. Against such a strong opposition. With him and Ben Johnson should hopefully have our right back covered for the next 10+ years

The lad really had a fantastic game. I didn’t notice Mane until he popper up for his tap in. He seems to have one attribute that is sadly desperately missing in Fredericks, he can time a tackle! Pretty useful for a defender!
