Holland decision on hold until after FA Cup tie

|

West Ham will wait until after the FA Cup tie against Gillingham before deciding whether Nathan Holland will remain as part of the first team squad or be allowed to go out on loan.

There has been a lot of interest in the left winger from Championship and League One clubs but the Irons won’t be rushed into a decision.

The Hammers travel to Kent for the game against the Gills on January 5 when the ongoing speculation over the managerial situation could be settled.

Holland has just forced his way into the squad under Pellegrini and ClaretandHugh has learned that a number of clubs have made formal inquiries about his availability.

Championship outfits Blackburn and Middlesbrough are both keen whist League One promotion chasers are also believed to have asked the Hammers for permission to take him.

Meanwhile, we understand that Under 23 striker Xande Silva is training alone after his recent bowel surgery with no time projected for his likely return.

Ridiculous thought …. really man. Kids of a lesser ability than Nathan played in the Liverpool first team in the week, are in ManU and ManC first team squads. Who thinks up these ideas.
If a player such as Declan, is good enough for first team football, then promote him in the club and get him to play. The kid has scored more goals than Anderson, Yarmo and Fornals put together. Yet they play?
Nathan Holland has been a massive talent for a long time, and deserves his place in the 1st team … no arguments.

All this is fine as long as they get game time. Sitting on the bench and getting 10 mins at the end of a match will do them no good at all. The list of hammers and players from other clubs who started out on loan would make an international side if they had been from the same generation.

Holland has scored lots of goals but not at premiership level. It’s a massive jump from playing against other youth sides, some as young as 15. Normally it is done in stages. Hence the loan talk.
