How we rated the Irons

|

ReidRandolph: Three superb saves – rock solid performance 7

Ogbonna: Quet and confident whenever trouble threatened 7

Reid: Utterly sensational – never a foot wrong whenever Chelsea attacked 9

Kouyate: Magnificent goal and rock solid in his defensive role again 8

Cresswell: Not quite the presence he was in his first game back but did nothing wrong 7

Antonio: Serious centre forward, held it up, brought players in and always a menace 8

Noble: All action stuff some good passing and tackling. Fabulous centre for the goal 7

Obiang Always looking to get forward and some fine passing although a couple of sloppy passes which could have caused issues 7

Fernandes: What a prospect – superb goal and loads of skill. A real Hammers type 7

Payet: Plenty of skill, poise and fine set pieces – good display again 7

Lanzini:Missed one great chance but put himself bang on the line all the time 7

Subs: Feghouli: Tricky, tracked back – couldn’t ask a lot more in short time on pitch 6

Zaza: Nothing to say 3

Ayew: Good to see him get a run out – one good chance but just wide. No complaints 5

Bilic: Got it spot on and from a team looking on its uppers produced a line up and approach which was out of the top drawer 9

was going to do my own ratings, but I pretty much agree with this one. Apart from Antonio’s score, who I think can be brilliant and frustrating in equal measure. Reid really was fantastic tonight. Definitely back to his best. His reading of the game is fantastic and some of his interceptions were world class anticipation. For 60 minutes it was the best performance of the season. Last 30 minutes Chelsea dominated because they could bring on Costa, Hazard and Pedro whereas we lacked options from the bench to bring on fresh legs in centre midfield. But credit to Bilic for tonight.

Fernandes was an 8 or a 9, when he went off we were defensively a lot weaker, Obiang was also an 8, I am surprised that Lanzini was only a 7 also, Lanzini should have been awarded a penalty, I thought the ref deserves only a 1 or a 2 once again completely inept missed several penalties and blatant fouls yet awarded everything to them and booked loads of our players. So glad we got through COYI !!!

several penalties? Lol. On the bevies last night 32?

Actually the Kante push on Payet from behind following a Lanzini pass WAS penalty. And I agree that the ref was quick to pull yellows for us yet nothing for Costa, who, true to himself, kept cussing, insulting, and simulating pushes, fouls and all sort of nonsense. Should have gotten a yellow. I was particularly in shock at Reid’s yellow, when costa clearly trips on the ball with nobody close to him….

Great team performance throughout, great win. Fernandez was simply outstanding again, as were Reid, Chek and Randolph. Energy levels much higher, quicker passing and breaking at pace. I liked how we gave these CB’s nobody to mark and showed up the limitations of Cahill and Terry. And the credit for this goes to Slav. When Zaza came on he provided Payet with a sitter so lets not start on him this morning.
