How we rated the Irons against Everton

|

Hughie hands out his marks

Fabianski: Might be half blamed for the punch which eventually led to a great Everton equaliser but that would be tough – comfortable after that 6

Fredericks: Two or three important late interventions and some decent stiff offensively – good performance with Johnson injured from knock in training 7

Dawson: Not quite sure why he was the official man of the match apparently but did little wrong 7

Zouma: As perfect a central defensive performance as you will see, Unspectacular and tremendously effective 9

Cresswell: Outstanding set piece goal on his 450th appearance – late booking and indifferent between the two 7

Rice: Certainly not his best game and gave one ball which nearly led to an Everton goal. Decent moments as ever but he won’t be entirely happy with this 90 minutes 6+

Soucek: Good early defensive work and looked good when pushing forward after Bowen substitution 7

Benrahma: Some great bits and pieces and won the foul which led to the fab Cresswell goal 7

Fornals: Barely got a look in and when he did nothing happened although in fairness supplied the assist . Also missed a great opportunity at the end of a great move. Gave him a three earlier but chanmge of mind 5

Bowen: Back with a bang with a goal and all action performance 7+

Antonio: All action, blockbusting runs – couple of missed chances one of which Bowen scored from – good performance which stretched the defence time and again 8

Noble: Came on for Benrahma when maybe it should have been Fornals. Did what Nobes usually does 6

Yarmolenko: Did ok but no  dramatic moments such as of late 6

How can you rate Fornals a 3!

Was you watching a different game than everyone else. He set Up Antonio for Bowen’s winner for a start. Me thinks someone doesn’t like him with a mark like that!

    • amd tjat was about it. shocking game – you must have been watching a different game to me. Siiiiiigh

We’re all entitled to an opinion…..
I thought Fornals was OK, but not a match winning performance.
Antonio does so much work without much reward, 8 today.
And Cresswell deserved a 7+ just for the goal!
Hope this didn;t take too much out of them for Thursday

I would say you were not even watching the game, Fornals yet again worked so hard and played so well. Fredericks is absolutely rubbish, he offers zero and the two bits of defending he did, one was the result of his awful defending and the second he got lucky. A terrible decision by Moyes to start him ahead of Coufal. I just cannot see what Moyes is looking, really worrying. Also the decision to bring on Noble was shambolic in my opinion. Fornals a solid 7, Fredericks a 5 and Moyes a 4.

As others have said you must have watched the “Fredericks back garden game” or something else.As jonham1 said Fredericks was awful and only tidied up his own mistake.
You gave him the same marks as Cresswell. He scored Fredericks did nothing of note but he almost let in Everton 3 times.

I thought Fornals was not effective today and by rights he should have been subbed – Benny showed both his sides – early on too many touches and caught in possession, but then played quick and simple and became effective. He really must stop trying to force it. Fredericks still too keen to bomb on without thought of cover /recovery, but played a very good defensive game today IMO with vital interceptions. Liked Soucek today, Zouma top drawer.

I agree Fornals was very poor today. I normally like Fornals but he was poor today and poor against Seville too. Off his game at the moment. I was surprised Moyes took off Benrahma and not Fornals. Benrahma wasn’t great but did some good things defensively and for the team today as well as taking his usual pot shots wide of the target. Rice wasnt great today either. Probably tired after his England exploits. Hope he’s up for it against Lyon. I thought we played well defensively today but our attacking game was off par.

Go watch the extended highlights on the OS. Fornals set up Antonio twice with sublime passes. Fredericks let in Richarlson numerous times. He gave the ball away cheaply and out of position leading up to Keane being sent off. CLEARLY YOU ARE WRONG. Fredericks a 7 hahahaha
