How we rated the Irons at Palace

|

Sean gives out the player ratings

Fabianski: 7  Make a terrific save to keep Palace out at an important part of the game but perhaps could have done better with Palace’s two goals.

Coufal: 8 Immense signings and plays like it is his tenth season in the Premier League, best right back  at West Ham in years

Dawson: 9  Another great performance and another goal too, he wanted that header more than anything else, what a loan signing

Ogbonna: 7 Another defensive great performance from the future Hammer of the year

Cresswell 8:  What a turn around from the left-back and in great form with yet another assist

Soucek 10:  I don’t give many tens out but two goals from a defensive midfielder and seven all season is amazing. Give the man some potato salad!

Rice 8: Another good performance from the young captain, hard to penalise him for his one mistake

Bowen 7: Good solid performance from the midfielder who is a workhorse, keeping up his most substituted record tonight.

Fornals 8: One of Fornals’ best games and unlucky not to get a goal, has come on leaps and bounds!

Benrahma 8: Great performance by the Brentford loanee and getting better and stronger game by game

Antonio 8: Great contribution with an assist tonight, did everything but score a goal, hit the post twice!

Subs:

Yarmolenko 7: Mark Noble 7 Ryan Fredericks 7   They did nothing wrong when they came on so benefit from the team performance and result

David Moyes 11:  Six wins from six games in January. if he does not win manager of the month then it’s a fix!

The best performance of the season. Coulda/shoulda have won by 4 more. Thankfully Dawson’s goal provided the win. Had Palace’s very late 2nd goal been the equaliser – it would have been a travesty. My only gripe in a wonderfully fluent game is Fornals should have put it beyond doubt before half time. With Liverpool next up it’s great to be looking forward to that game – rather than wishing it was over. The longer this run continues the more I feel we are on the brink of not only being a good team – but a very good team. Mr Moyes and his coaching team have worked wonders. Please, GSB, put him on a lucrative long term contract ASAP – and, while you’re at it, do the same for Declan. The future’s bright – the future’s claret ‘n’ blue. Come on you rip roarin’, goal scorin’
    ‘Ammers!

Guessing Moyes contract negotiations will begin once West Ham reach 40 points, even though Benitez is now hovering in the shadows.

Great team performance.Bowen has been a good buy but an anonymous 5 last night. He was on the ball so rarely I forgot he was playing at times.

On ratings the whole team was good what a performance shame to concede in last second to Michy tho! But everyone was good Fab key saver, Oggy rock as always, Cresweel tied with Robertson for most assists by Defender good game besides last sec. Dawson a beast good old fashioned CB I was excited about signing thought ok it’s a loan will provide cover & now he is keeping Balbuena out who was in very good form. Old school CB him make him permanent give him & Balbuena 2 year deals what found a better 3rd option who doesn’t moan is good passer too & is on £30k. Plus Diop then have Alves & Baptiste & Alese hopefully 1 or 2 can come up & they will she good mentors. Benrahma had his best agem imo he needs to get a goal but put in a real ajoft & Bowen was solid, Fornals could tell how happy he is to have Antonio back links up so much better with him great vision to find Antonio in between everyone in box for him to get it to Souček. Souček is a machine & probably one of th eBay January signings every earned his fee already with 10 goals in 33 games not to mention his all around work. He he was key in signing Coufal who has been amazing £5m better then £30m FBs. Rice & Souček are one of if not best mid lair in PL & both need new deals Bayern already looking at Souček & clubs will be all over him a physical DM with Stamina who can score. Lock them down bc they are our spine build around & Moyes 3 year deal. Felt for Antonio he didn’t score, we are so much better with him. Moyes is right though we could be better, we hit woodwork 14 times! We aren’t clincal enough with are chances of we work on that we could be winning games like City. Easy could of got 5-6.
Just hope we tie down Moyes Rice Souček that’s more important then signing anew player imo.

It is fixed Sean! Moyes has been amazing & staff bc Nolan, Irvine, Nevin & Physco have helped too. Why are we waiting till summer to give him a new deal. I would imagine he is getting interest would think Celtic would definitely. His post match talk he said “I am ambitious I want to try and manage teams at at the top of the league” then I want to grow club, or help grow a club if I get the opportunity”.
A month ago he was saying he wants “us” and the “team” to work on scouting department. BBC Cates even said they haven’t offered him a new deal her & he will ha e interest & others agreed saying stand out job one of the surprised of season.
Are we risking not trying down Moyes now? Does he want to wait? Bc o do feel like other clubs will be looking at him, Celtic he could win trophies….
I hope GSB sort it & back him & what he wants to do with Director & Analysis scouting etc.

Really enjoyed these ratings Sean, hoping also for a perfect 7 on Sunday against Liverpool COYI!!!

  • GaryD says:

Great result with another team effort.
Didn’t think it was one of Jarad Bowen’s better efforts, but allow he may have been asked to push up. 6
Benrhama remains a work in progress and is still a defensive liability. Some impressive footwork though. 6.5
Had Fournals stuffed the 3 chances Antonio missed the lynch mob would be out.

  • The Cat says:

I’ve been a long-suffering supporter for many a year, but such consistency and desire is a strange thing indeed.
Moyes as I’ve suspected for a very long time, IS that Rare manager who deserves to be tied to a very long contract which should be the foundation for the creation of a new legacy at this club going forward.
I am truly stunned and speechless.

Totally agree with your ratings Sean what a great result and we could have had more. This side work hard for each other and although we have some big games coming up that will be games we may lose. I think we will not roll over like in the past. I believe this squad will get better and better and could be pushing top 4 if given the backing of the owners.
