How we’ve rated every Hammer so far

|

With that international break upon us (sigh) Hugh takes a look at the Hammers rates the Hammers squad  after the first eight games of the season

Fabianski: Again in rock solid form until that awful injury 7

Roberto: Early days after about a game and a half. Unfair to compare with Fab but so far so good 5.5

Fredericks: Growing into the job well but still prone to a mistake at times 6

Zaba: Just five appearances and has let absolutely nobody down 6

Diop: Brilliant at times with fantastic interventions and tackles but has shown he has the odd mistake in him 7

Ogbonna: Ditto above 7

Balbuena: Unseen since the opening day nightmare against City No rating

Masuaku: Much as we have come to expect, fine going forward, worrying when forced to defend 6

Cresswell: Fabulous form since being called back into the side and even on his toughest defensive gig did ok as Zaha was marked in numbers 8

Rice: Has come right back to his very best, covering a fantastic amount of ground effectively behind Nobes 8.5

Noble: No coincidence we have done well since his return – still rolling back the years 7.5

Yarmolenko: He’s totally recovered from injury and has produced some great form with, hopefully, more to come 7

Anderson: Touches of real skill and Brazilian samba stuff but tends to protect himself in 50/50s and we need to see more shots 7

Lanzini: There have been moments to drool over but probably not enough of them – still the main man when really in form 6.5

Wilshere:  Not sure we’ll ever seem him back to his VERY best and still too slow over the ground for me 4.5

Fornals: This guy really is a slow burner and we await his best with much patience 5

Snodgrass: Slipping down the pecking order and nothing like as effective as last term 4

Sanchez: Least said soonest mended 2

Haller: Four goals and a bucket load of work have been the hallmarks of the record signing. For me the best of the lot given how tough it is to play one up. Always looking for available players but bang on the case in the box. 9

Ajeti: Little seen of him so far but nothing to shout home about so far. He will need time and games 2

  • Hamptonese says:

Hard to disagree with those ratings. Our central defence of Og and Diop has been surprisingly decent so far, let’s hope it continues!

  • Golfeater says:

Still they cannot make that all important n next step until then it’s mid table
