BT’s use of Howard Webb really drives me up the wall and this is a perfect example – the Ref gets it wrong, Webb tells us he got it wrong, so what?

    What changes, who cares?

As far as I can see all that happens is that my blood pressure goes up even higher and there’s a danger of me throwing the remote control at the telly – I’d probably miss!

Lmao Michael. Its good to see the Timothy Taylors relaxed you lastnight.Well ok maybe not then 😀

To be fair to bt, the use of Howard Webb downstate how quick and simple it would be to have an additional referree in a seperate room away from the pitch, wired up directed to the main ref, helping him out with decisions based on replays.

I was trying to work out what you meant by ‘downstate’ – it came to me while I was in the shower that it must be ‘demonstrate’ – bloody spellcheckers!

…Oh, and I forgot to say ‘good point’, but I think people are noticing in Rugby now that the video ref is starting to intrude into the match with duff points and it was never meant to do that. The whole ‘video ref’ thing is a right can-of-worms!

Fine for ‘was it a goal?’ but beyond that you’re asking for just more controversy and undermining Referee’s even more!

I was going to say you just have to accept ‘the rough with the smooth’ but I’d be arguing against myself – why change a habit of a lifetime?

Sorry Mike but you are wrong. Two disgraceful decisions by a referee that I do not hold in high regard could have cost our team dearly – not just 2 points but all 3. He was in a perfect position to see the penalty incident and could have been corrected very quickly by a video ref. As for the “foul” seconds later by Cressie, this was the linesman’s call and he should be demoted to Sunday morning matches as he was very close to the incident where there was little contact made. And even though we did get all 3 points we are now without Cressie for next weeks game all because of disgraceful decision making by the match officials and the decisions cannot be reversed. So, Cressie misses a match and the match officials? They carry on with no sanctions to make even more cock-ups. We need to use video technology to protect the integrity of the game and clubs from the financial impact of poor decisions by match officials.

What really gets me angry,is the ref. asks his assistant if there was a bookable offence committed, lino says “definitely” well seeing that there was no offence committed, he presumed contact had occurred on his blindside, because of Zahas reaction. The ref. was in a better position. Presumption is not good enough he saw nothing.end of rant had to get it out.COYI

What is more disgusting is the way Cabaye influenced the ref with the first yellow and then also in the ref’s face for the second, cannot stand that sort of behaviour.
