Super Tomas Soucek should not play as striker for West Ham

Huge admiration for Hammers midfielder

I am far too ancient for hero worship but I have had a huge admiration for Hammers midfielder  Tomas Soucek since he arrived at the might Irons four and a half seasons ago writes Hughie Southon.

Huge admiration for Hammers midfielder

Ok, I understand that he hasn’t been the same player as we saw in his first season but of late he has been looking better and better and that was come goal against Everton to clinch things at Goodison Park – not his first as he demonstrated at Turf Moor against Burnley.

More of the same tomorrow will do very nicely thank you although let’s hope the game is out of sight for us by then.

We have a habit of finding scapegoats and Tom has been seized upon by a few for such a role over recent months but maybe we should remember the midfielder had played a total of 202 games for the Hammers since he arrived at the club beyond all his international responsibilities as captain of the Czech Republic.

He is a top player and a fine human being who will spend the best years of his career with this club and for once I can say that I agree wholeheartedly with David Moyes‘ opinion of a man who he can use either in an attacking or defensive role as the occasions demands. His passing  – along with a few others has been criticised but when you are played as often as he has been it is understandable that the edge can go off parts of your game at times.

I have lots and lots of time for this man who is rarely injured and just gets on with it wearing a smile on his face most of the time!
