Hugill Canaries switch hits new problem

|

West Ham have reportedly rejected an opening offer of £5 million for Jordan Hugill but are continuing talks with the relegated club.

According to the Mail the Canaries are only ready to offer £3million up front with the remainder made up of add ons for the former Preston North End striker who has spent the last two seasons on loan.

That would presumably be made up of appearance, goals and promotion clauses as the club attempts to plot its Premier League return.

Norwich are famous for paying little in terms of transfer fees and that probably accounts for their relegation last term.

The Hammers splashed out £10 million on the 28 year old during David Moyes’ first spell in charge and will want a minimum of £5 million in a very hard market plus the add ons.

On top of that is the issue concerning the players wages and at present that doesn’t appear to be close to a solution.

Hugill made just three substitute appearances for the Hammers in the Premier League before loaned back out to clubs in the Championship, where he is a proven performer.

Norwich City are targeting the signing of striker Jordan Hugill from West Ham this summer

He has returned to the second-tier for the last two seasons, spending a year at Middlesbrough and then the recently-finished season on loan at QPR, ending a successful campaign with 15 goals in 41 appearances.

Moyes needs to sell players before he can buy and they will listen to offers for the likes of Felipe Anderson, Manuel Lanzini, Fabian Balbuena, Ryan Fredericks, Arthur Masuaku and Jack Wilshere.

Simple solution, offer Hugill an a few million for Pukki, would be like a cheaper Ollie Watkins alternative.
