Manager thanks fans for lockdown passion

|

David Moyes plans to repay the fans whom he knows have been bang behind the team right through lockdown.

In one of football’s most difficult ever seasons he has been entirely aware of the passion from the fans who have been unable to give any stadium vocal support.

Some might say that the team’s performances barely reflected the absence of the fans such was its strength when the chips were down.

But the manager knows exactly how the supporters were feelings, what was at stake and how incredibly vital it was to stay at the top level.

Now once again – and we’ve had it a few times before haven’t we – the pressure is off although the opening fixtures have sent some nerves through most.

But the manager has a plan he claims which will finally unlock the potential of this club and have us flyng – we hope to God he’s right.

Commenting at https://www.whufc.com/news/articles/2020/august/22-august/david-moyes-scotland-preparations-finding-consistency-and he said: “I have to say thank you to all the supporters for the support I’ve personally had from them.

In lockdown, we had great support. We knew they were with us, and also we knew what it meant: it meant that West Ham had to be a Premier League team.

I’ve said it before as well: I think this club has got unbelievable potential – and it’s untapped. It has been one of the leading clubs in English football for so many years, but that many years ago, so now we have to come back.

We will come back. The potential here is so big, with the capacity of the crowd and the support we’ve got in the East End of London.

I know we’ve not got them inside the Stadium just now, but we’re sensing that there’s a chance that people might be able to come back into games shortly, and I look forward to trying to give them a young, dynamic team which they can all be proud of.”

The question is did they play better because they didn’t have a lot of negatively / edginess coming from the stands.
Things like the Chelsea game when it went 2-2 with a packed crowd it might have imploded, we have all seen it and been part of it.
Maybe the players didn’t feel the pressure.
