Andy Irving could still leave West Ham in the current transfer window if the club receives a solid bid.
A London Stadium source has revealed to Claret & Hugh that the club has received several offers for the midfielder, who was called up to the Scotland squad earlier this season.
However, the Hammers were unwilling to sanction any offers because all approaches were only loan deals. Whilst a temporary move would be considered for Irving, there would need to be a significant loan fee involved due to the player’s low wages.
There is very little benefit in West Ham allowing a player to depart on loan, with the saving in wages thought to be negligible.
Therefore, the only realistic way a transfer can happen is if an interested club submits a transfer fee and a permanent offer for the player, who was identified by former director of football Tim Steidten.
The club are still believed to be working on getting some fringe players out but new boss Graham Potter has also been described as ‘relaxed’ with the composition of his squad for now.
