Irons and City snub weekend match offer

|

Nether Manchester City of the Irons are ready to play yesterday’s postponed match this weekend despite their being a window to accommodate it.

Storm Ciara put paid to the match and there was a chance the game could be played this forthcoming weekend but that has been snubbed by both clubs.

The game was postponed after heavy rain and severe gales cause major disruption across the country and it now looks as though it will be difficult to find a suitable day for the match.

With City still in the FA Cup, Carabao Cup and Champions League it has become something of a headache for the Premier League to find a suitable date

The London Evening Standard reports: “The Premier League have previously said they expect clubs not to arrange competitive or friendly fixtures during their winter break, and the two clubs would be unhappy if they permitted an exception.

David Moyes has given his players five days off and many of them have jetted off on holiday. They are due to return to training on Saturday.”

City face a fixture pile-up because of the postponement and hopefully that will prove of benefit to the Irons who travel to Anfield for their next game.

Should City reach the quarter-finals of the FA Cup, another fixture would have to be rescheduled — at Chelsea — as well as the Arsenal and West Ham matches. There is a chance the West Ham game will not be rearranged until after the outcome of City’s Champions League tie against Real Madrid in mid-March.

Im placing a gentleman’s bet that our players look particularly unfit on the Liverpool match. Im betting that they will look like they haven’t trained for two weeks.

  • albert robata says:

Play it midweek next week then. We don’t have a match till the following monday anyway, which we’re bound to lose.

Better that than sandwiched midweek between two games we need to get something out of.

  • Hammerkip says:

The players have gone on holiday…and don’t some deserve it .they should of used this week to get fitter ..we are in the relegation zone and they have gone on holiday..😂😂😂👍👍👍if we were mid table or above then fair enough…what a joke

  • The Cat says:

This is an OFFICIAL Premier League winter break……. It applies to ALL teams in the Premiership whether supporters feel their teams deserve it or not.
I make both teams right for not wanting to play at the Premier League’s convenience during this official break…..
Who knows, maybe luck is going our way now, as Man City will now want to meet us whenever this match is rearranged, due to fixture congestion on their part.

    • Hammerkip says:

Yeah the games, but that doesn’t mean they cant use the time to get fitter rather than fatter…imo

  • Rick meigh says:

We should wait till city say that due to fixtures there going to play there under 11 team least we might have a chance at getting a draw
