West Ham coach Alan Irvine admits he’s been well impressed with Robert Snodgrass at Aston Villa after David Moyes looked into cancelling the player’s season-long deal at Villa Park.
However, the management team have now been forced to accept there is no way back to the London Stadium for the £8 million signing after Villa and the Hammers agreed to a no recall clause being included in the deal.
Irvine took today’s presser ahead of the FA Cup replay against Shrewsbury and commented: “He is doing really well, I saw a bit of him at the weekend and the quality he has and funny enough, he’s a player I tried to sign at West Brom but didn’t get to him.
“But I don’t think that we can call him back.”
Snodgrass is enjoying a fine campaign chipping in with six goals and six assists and manager Steve Bruce admitted he wants to make the loan deal permanent at the end of the season.
He said: “I’ve had the joy of working with him for some time. I paid a lot of money for him when I was at Hull.
“He’s been very good for us since taking him on loan and he’s enjoying his football. We would love to sign him permanently.
I think it’s fair to say that we have to get promoted to make it happen. Obviously he’s going to be a lot of money.”
Why would he want to come back anyway. I thought when Moyes first joined he moght try & get back his fellow countryman. But thanks to Sully & Brady’s comments we have also hurt is resale value bc clubs will know all this.
I would have Snodgrass back didtn agree w buy to start bc wasn’t going to replace Payet & was bought for wrong reason. That said he is a decent RM RW players & has a good left foot.
But I wouldnt pay £2m to get him back.
Just Sullivan & Brady need to be smarter esp Brady why do it again after what happened with Sully. Wish Brady would leave & go full politics & Sully would be quiet like most owners
Def won’t help recruitment ffs
