West Ham were the quickest club out of the blocks when Jurgen Klopp decided to quit Borussia Dortmund back in the summer.
As Klopp mania grips the Kop this weekend, ClaretandHugh was told this morning the Irons board moved in very quickly as they tried to tie up a deal with the German.
Stressing though that they could hardly be happier in finally appointing Slaven Bilic as manager, a top level source explained to us exclusively: “At the time Klopp was the name on everybody’s lips and of course we were more than interested.
“You only have to look at the fever going on around Merseyside to understand how highly this man is rated and yes we were keen at that time.
“We spoke to his agents and in fact made a very big offer but the timing was wrong because they came back to us saying he wanted a break from the game to get Dortmund out of his system.
“That’s probably all true but it’s also fair to assume that Klopp wanted the opportunity of managing a club he perceived to be bigger than us.”
Can’t wait for the headlines….
“Klopp of the Flops”
“Klopp ’til you drop”
“Klopp’s Kop Flops”
Take it away, The Sun
He has a harder job then Hippo,
The Keeper and defence are championship quality at best, there forwards are average,
And there midfield just average,
The money from Sterling and Suarez has gone, the best players are happy at there clubs and they will need £200 million just to stay in the top half,
But he is a good manager and will keep them in the top half in the next 2 years
Im glad he’s in the Prem.. A real character, he will bring colour to things. Im fed up with the boring old farts still knocking around.. Slav and Klopp are part of a new breed and Im so happy they are here
I agree. Get rid of the old school dinosaurs, hippos and walruses, and bring on the young new rock gods.
