West Ham United are casting their net wide in their summer transfer plans, with young Belgian midfielder Mandela Keita emerging as a target, according to Nieuwsblad.

The 21-year-old central midfielder is attracting significant interest. West Ham joins Manchester United, Nottingham Forest, Blackburn, Leeds, and Norwich in the race to secure his signature before the 2024/25 season kicks off. Keita himself is reportedly eager to leave his current club, Antwerp, for a new challenge.

While Keita seeks a new chapter, Antwerp is looking to capitalise on his potential. The Belgian club is determined to maximise their profit on Keita’s transfer, aiming for a significant return on their investment.

The arrival of Julen Lopetegui as manager signifies a period of significant transformation for West Ham. Several outgoings are expected, with Lucas Paqueta and potentially Ben Johnson among those departing. This exodus necessitates targeted signings to replenish the squad, and Keita fits the profile of a promising young talent with the potential to develop further.

Central midfield is a priority area for West Ham’s rebuild under Lopetegui. Keita’s skillset appears to align perfectly with the manager’s tactical preferences, which emphasise athleticism and strong technical ability in the centre of the park.

What happens when lopetagui or whatever his name is realizes we ain’t got no money, and if we have why didn’t we cough up for a decent striker around christmas time?

    • Ironclad says:

Simple you don’t get decent strikers at Christmas….you get out of form old players looking for a final cheque…what par tof that don’t you get?

  • Trevsheadwonthecup says:

We’ve got money. Even Sullivan admitted it in a recent interview. Bloody unusual for him LOL .

  • Bennyboy baker says:

The club has money question is will Sullivan spend the amount of money needed or will he just go with make the best of what we have got if he keeps his word regarding incoming players then all should be fine if not then it’s going to be a repeat of what Lopetegui did at wolves and that’s would cause untold problems fingers crossed all goes to plan

  • Hammer says:

Don’t think Lopetequi would be joining if there was no guarantee he would get a good transfer fund and don’t think Sullivan is too tight or stupid to realise the ramifications if he did not cough up

  • Paul says:

Although I don’t like Sullivan, you have to admit he’s allowed Moyes to squander millions in Haller,Scamacca, Therer, Phillips and Ings
