The Hammers could be facing a massive defensive crisis when Liverpool arrive in the East End on Saturday evening.

Slaven Bilic’s troubles are piling higher and higher as the under pressure boss bids to turn the most difficult of seasons around.

But he will be hoping for some major improvement among the back four men as the team lock horns with Jurgen Klopp’s Reds at the London Stadium.

Winston Reid is suffering from a calf strain and there is no clear indication whether he will be ready to take his place at the back whilst James Colllins is still struggling to shake off an ankle injury picked up against West Brom last month.

To add to his woes, Bilic saw Jose Fonte limp off against Palace while Pablo Zabaleta will miss the game after picking up a one match suspension for five yellow cards.

Sam Byram will be drafted into the right back position leaving the manager to juggle options which include Declan Rice, Angelo Ogbonna and Cheik Kouyate.

Rice Ogbonna and Kouyate worked against Spurs… why not Liverpool?

Yep. Agree with that and Byram as a WB for the right side. Do we know what’s happening with Cressy? Otherwise we’re looking at Masuaku and Armie on the left?? Doesn’t bare thinking about 🙁 🙁

    Sorry, felt literary tonight…

If this crisis means Rice getting a run of games, I’m all for it!
Not sure about Ogbanna however, tackles with the wrong foot and too often found out of position.
Can get away with Arfur as a wing back, but please not as a full back!
