West Ham United have confirmed Fulham are interested in striker Carlton Cole but have no intention of doing a deal on the terms being offered.
News broke earlier today that manager Felix Magath is keen to pair new signing Ross McCormack with the Hammers loyalist.
The news first appeared on www.kumb.com but when ClaretandHugh contacted Upton Park sources Fulham were given a frosty reception to the proposed deal.
We were told that there was no chance of a deal being done on the terms being offered by the Cottagers.
Our source said: ” They want Carlton for nothing and he is very much part of our plans.”
It’s a funny old game isn’t it? Fulham want Carlton for nothing and they could have had him for exactly that a matter of months ago. Instead they decided to spend £12m on Mitroglou, who has delivered precisely nothing for them. (Lucky we missed him!!). It is hard to think that Carlton is worth any less than the Greek. Maybe we could cut them a deal, as they are neighbours, say £6m for Carlton!! After all, he scored five in six starts (+8 sub appearances) while he was on the short term contract last season, although that didn’t stop Sam demoting him as soon as AC was half fit, and Carlton signed the longer term deal.
If the deal is right for WHUFC and we can sign another striker then by all means let Cole go!
At 30yrs calton is never now going to fulfil that early potential and is never going to be that free scoring striker we need to take us onto the next level. So if a replacement can be found then move him on! COYI!
