Irons have to solve a massive window issue

|

David Moyes commented a few days ago that Mikey Antonio is incredibly important to the team and it’s his job to ensure he is at top form.

Sadly, right now he’s failing and the 31 year old front man has been looking like a fish out of water in this West Ham team of late.

The likes of Jarrod Bowen and Declan Rice – along at times with Pablo Fornals – represent the best of us going forward.

Mikey us without a goal since October 24 against Spurs and being entirely frank he really doesn’t look  to have one in him right now.

His touch has deserted him and although he is taking up the right positions too much is breaking down on him.

Had we another genuine striker at the club I’m pretty certain Mikey would have been replaced by now and as we head for January the need for a second forward becomes more and more obvious.

What with that and a double blow to our two central defenders, new recruitment boss  Rob Newman has his work well and truly cut out on his first transfer window.

On an afternoon when few players showed anything, it may seem unfair to single the No 9 it but the loss of form has lasted too long and something MUST be done in the window .

Obviously all the attention has switched to the injury issues at the back but it’s very simple: goals win games and we need a striker big time as well as a defender.

Let’s all hope Newman is well and truly on the case!

Is it time to rest Antonio? He isn’t even holding it up at the moment. Maybe watching a bit then subbed on? Could we play Bowen up top? Can’t watch Yarmo stealing a living. Lanzini, Formals, Benrahma with Bowen ‘false nine’ maybe worth a shot. Still, we have a few dilemmas – including three or four at the back. If Arthur plays I would rather see a three. It’s a dilemma but we are not right currently

Said it before and will say it again he seems to be lacking energy since the diet change. Maybe he needs a nice t-bone the night before a game?

Ha ha Love it. A good steak never hurts any one.
I think he look fatigued both physically and mentally, the whole team does.
