Irons look on as Cherries striker worries grow

|

Living in a West Ham bubble can often keep our eyes off issues which may ultimately have a big bearing on whether or not we are going to survive as a Premier League

The dangerous looking injury to Bournemouth striker Josh King against Crystal Palace last night bearing in mind Callun Wilson’s current situation is one that could prove crucial.

King was forced to hobble off after a clash with Gary Cahill and given that Wilson is on nine yellows for the season, the Cherries up front situation looks more than a bit fragile. One more yellow and it’s a two game ban,

And given the pair have scored 16 of the 29 goals the Cherries have managed that is more than a small problem.

The Hammers have their own striker worries with Sebastian Haller sidelined but Bournemouth’s – where there have been a mass of injuries this term again look dreadful.

Afterward Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe said: “I think Josh – I haven’t spoke to him individually – he signalled to the bench that he was struggling and couldn’t continue, so that’s a huge concern.

Its almost a perennial necessity following West Ham that we have to get our calculators out and look on almost religiously at the 3 teams that are hopefully worse than us to survive at the top level most seasons..Its a damning indictment on the lack of progress at our club that we are reduced to this.Sounds drastic but could it be time for a root and branch strip down of the entire set up in the 1st team.My only hope is that we start to filter through more of the U23s in the future as that is the only bright spot. There is something horribly wrong when you compare us to a newly promoted team like Sheff Utd for instance who have spent a fraction of the money we have on our lot.All i saw yesterday was slow, ponderous play and a real lack of commitment and desire by too many players.Wolves are a great example of steady progress each season since promotion and why we cannot emulate them is the biggest mystery as both clubs are comparable in size and funding.

Not a time to get negative, we were beaten by a very good Wolves side yesterday. We have yet to rediscover the form we were in prior to the enforced virus break. We have enough winnable games before the end of the season to get the points needed to survive. We’ve been here before and no doubt will be again, we are West Ham , it’s what we do ! Not for us the routine win most weeks of the top clubs , but their supporters never experience the highs we get when we beat Spurs or Man U etc , a feeling that lasts for days on end , and yes , i have had a glass or two of wine folks ! COYI 🙂

Its the long term scenario thats worrying.I too believe we will survive.Norwich are gone and Villa and Bournemouth have horror fixtures in the run in and yes after 40 years i should be used to it but where exactly are the owners taking the club?have they got a long term plan.?

The owners’ (plus Brady) long term plan is to exit with as much profit as possible. Any sporting success along the way will be merely incidental. West Ham United is no longer a sports club, it’s a financial vehicle.

Can I just say the advertisement and pop ups are getting absolutely ridiculous..half the time I give up trying to comment as it’s just everywhere…and you have to keep back tracking…but you have cheered me up hugh ,,let’s hope 70% of all the players in the bottom half get injured then we may haveca chance of staying up …or knowing us maybe not 🤣🤣🤣 villa just gone 1 up …..we are bang in trouble….I was the first to slag the young lad of for not wanting to stay..but if you think about it ..he has been here for years and has seen the way the club is run, so really who could blame him …just saying..

    • We can’t work for nowt kip and these are very hard times. Nobody pays for anything on the internet as far as journalism is concerned so there is a price to be paid via ads in this time. Apologies but way it is
