Striker Gabriel Barbosa would have been the focus of attention for most Hammers watching tonight’s Club World clash between Liverpool and Flamengo.
The League leaders ran out 1-0 extra time winners and with the Inter striker on loan at the Brazilian club and is of ‘live’ interest to the Irons, this was an opportunity to run the rule over him.
Hammers insiders had told ClaretandHugh a couple of days ago that Barbosa had been regularly watched as the club look to sign a striker in the winter window
The Brazilan champions are reported to have a deal on the table with Inter and are concerned the Hammers may come in to top their personal terms which are alleged to be around £80k a week.
However, Manuel Pellegrini wouldn’t have seen much to tempt him on the strength of tonight’s performance from the 23 year old who was little more than a bit part player apart from one overhead shot which was comfortably saved.
He came short to play off some one touch passes before moving into space but offered little in terms of a real threat to Klopp’s men.
On the strength of this showing the Hammers would be well advised to keep looking further afield.

In a one off end of season ¨friendly¨ i thought he looked quite lively and put himself about , had a few efforts, and not to forget up against a great Liverpool defense!
I think he´d shine in the premier leaguebut all depends on fee… if its the reported 18-20m then i´d be all over it !
